10th Postgraduate Thesis Presentation Concludes at GMC Srinagar

The Academic Sub-Committee of CASS Students Welfare Union, in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, successfully hosted the 10th Postgraduate Thesis Presentation on November 11-12, 2025. This prestigious event marked a significant milestone in the academic calendar of GMC Srinagar, providing a platform for postgraduate and postdoctoral research scholars to showcase their research work.

The event saw participation from 214 postgraduate and postdoctoral research scholars from diverse departments across GMC Srinagar, including MD, MS, DNB, and DrNB candidates, who presented their research work before an expert panel from SKIMS and GMC Srinagar. The presentations covered a wide range of topics in medical research, and the scholars received valuable feedback and suggestions from the expert panel.

Medals were awarded to the best presentation from each department and to the top three overall presentations during the valedictory ceremony. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the research scholars and acknowledges their contributions to the field of medical research.

Prof. Shahida Mir, Ex-Principal and Dean, GMC Srinagar, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, and in her address, she said, "I am delighted to be a part of this prestigious event, which showcases the exceptional research talent of our postgraduate and postdoctoral scholars. The quality of research presented here is commendable, and I am confident that it will have a significant impact on the healthcare landscape of our region. I congratulate the organizers and participants for their efforts and encourage them to continue striving for excellence."

Prof. Mohammad Ramzan Mir, former Head of Orthopedics, GMC Srinagar, was the Guest of Honour, and he said, "I am honored to be a part of this event, which highlights the importance of research and innovation in medical education. The research presented here demonstrates the commitment of our scholars to addressing healthcare challenges and improving patient outcomes. I commend the efforts of the organizers and participants and urge them to continue pushing the boundaries of medical knowledge."

Prof. S Muhammad Salim Khan, Head of Community Medicine and Organizing Chairman, welcomed the guests and participants, highlighting the significance of the event in promoting research and academic excellence. Prof. Iffat Hassan , Principal/Dean, GMC Srinagar, emphasized the global relevance of research and encouraged students to publish their work in reputed journals. Prof. Sabhiya Majid and Prof. Showkat Ahmad Kadla highlighted the importance of such academic platforms and proposed measures for future enhancement.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Inaamul Haq, Associate Professor, Community Medicine, and Organizing Secretary of PGTP 2025, thanking the guests, participants, and organizers for their contributions to the success of the event.
