One-Day Workshop on Sleep Neurology and Polysomnography on 12th May 2026 in the Department of Neurology, Super Speciality Hospital, GMC Srinagar
The Department of Neurology, Super Speciality Hospital, GMC Srinagar successfully conducted a One-Day Workshop on Sleep Neurology and Polysomnography on 12th May 2026 at the Medical Education Unit (MEU), GMC Srinagar. The workshop aimed to enhance awareness and practical understanding of sleep medicine and polysomnography among healthcare professionals and trainees.
The programme was held under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Ifta Hassan Shah, Principal, GMC Srinagar. Distinguished faculty members and experts in the field delivered lectures and interactive sessions covering the fundamentals of sleep, indications for sleep studies, basics of polysomnography setup and acquisition, sleep scoring, and interpretation and reporting of sleep studies. The workshop also included live demonstrations on patient hook-up and PAP device demonstration, providing participants with valuable hands-on exposure.
Prof. Dr. Manvir Bhatia, Senior Consultant and renowned expert in Neurology and Sleep Medicine, participated as Guest Faculty and conducted highly engaging academic sessions. The audience included sleep technologists, BSc Neuroscience students, neurologists, ENT specialists, chest medicine specialists, and internists from various institutions. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation and remained highly interactive throughout, with active discussions, question-answer sessions, and audience engagement.
The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Bashir Ahmad Sanaie, Head, Department of Neurology, Super Speciality Hospital Shireen Bagh, with coordination by Dr. Sheikh Hilal Ahmad and the organizing team. The workshop concluded with a post-test, feedback session, and felicitation of faculty and participants.
Encouraged by the positive response and active participation, the Department of Neurology envisions organizing more such workshops in the future to further strengthen academic training and awareness in the growing field of Sleep Medicine.
