Blood donation camps organized today on 17th of September 2022 at GMC Srinagar and two other locations

The Department of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine Government Medical College Srinagar organized four blood donation camps today on 17

th 

of September 2022. Two blood donation camps were organized by L. D. Hospital Srinagar at Alamgiri Bazaar and Zadibal and another camp was organized by blood Centre Bone and Joint Barzulla hospital at Chatabal Srinagar. The main camp was organized by blood Centre SMHS Hospital in Medical College Opposite Auditorium. The students of GMC Srinagar and  Blood Donors of different NGO’s donated blood in this camp and 124 blood units were collected at these camps. This was a mega blood donation drive in response to  Rakhtdaan Amrit Mohotsav.  According to which 2000+ donation camps were organized across the nation in a day. Honourable Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Rajiv Roy Batnagar, who was the chief guest inaugurated the blood donation camp  in presence of Prof(Dr) Samia Rashid Principal/Dean Government Medical College Srinagar. The aim of  the blood donation camps is to provide free blood to the needy patients which include patients suffering from cancer,CKD, Trauma, Thalassemia etc.  The voluntary blood donation has increased a  lot in last  few years.  And to increase the voluntary Blood Donations  such camps need to be organized in the best interest of patient care.  The camp was logistically supported by National Health Mission and Jammu and Kashmir Aids Prevention and Control Society.
